Why do I overshare?

Oversharing is telling more, sooner, than the relationship can hold, and often regretting it afterwards. It usually comes from trying to fast-forward to closeness, talking to discharge anxiety, boundaries that were never clearly drawn, or wanting to be seen. Sharing is how intimacy grows. Oversharing skips the part where trust is built first.

What it looks like

The usual reasons

Fast-forwarding to closeness

Sharing something personal feels like a shortcut to being close. It can work, and it can also scare people off.

Where a chart tends to show it: Venus in Gemini, Mercury in Gemini, Descendant in Gemini

Talking to discharge anxiety

Words relieve the pressure. You keep talking because stopping lets the anxiety back in.

Where a chart tends to show it: Moon in Gemini, Mercury in Aries, Moon in Virgo

Boundaries never clearly drawn

If privacy was not respected growing up, the line between private and shareable stayed blurry.

Where a chart tends to show it: Sun in Pisces, Moon in Pisces, Mars in Pisces

Wanting to be seen

Telling your story is a way of being witnessed. The need to be known outruns the setting.

Where a chart tends to show it: Soul Urge 3, Mercury in Leo, Life Path 3

Same behavior, different reasons

One person overshares because silence makes them anxious. Another overshares because they want to be known and do not know how to get there slowly. The first needs to tolerate a pause. The second needs people worth telling, and the patience to let them earn it.
